Pantera was an American heavy metal band formed in Arlington, Texas, in 1981. Originally a glam metal act, they redefined their sound in the 1990s with a heavier, groove-based style. The classic lineup featured Phil Anselmo (vocals), Dimebag Darrell (guitar), Rex Brown (bass), and Vinnie Paul (drums). Albums like Cowboys from Hell (1990) and Vulgar Display of Power (1992) made Pantera icons of modern metal. The band disbanded in 2003.
