The Ramones were an American punk rock band formed in New York City in 1974. The original lineup included Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, and Tommy Ramone. Known for their fast, stripped-down sound, they are considered pioneers of punk music. Their self-titled 1976 debut album influenced countless bands. Though not commercially huge during their active years, their legacy grew, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
